Threatened species

Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Only show results for Priority....

Provide for appropriate management for the species in DEC Plans of Management and Fire Management Plans. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
Undertake an assessment of the need to implement phytosanitary guidelines for certain areas containing the species to protect from Phytopthora. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs Medium
In conjunction with monitoring, assess the need to protect certain areas from recreational activities. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
Investigate seed viability, germination, dormancy and longevity (in natural environment and in storage). Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
If required, undertake feral pig control at known locations of the species. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
Establish and maintain an ex situ collection of the species at appropriate botanic gardens. Maintain records for any future role of the collection in in situ conservation. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs Medium
Collect seed for NSW Seedbank. Develop collection program in collaboration with BGT - single provenance. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
Conduct research to determine ecological requirements, including fire ecology, and undertake field studies to monitor seedling establishment and survivorship. May involve autecological study or literature search for information on similar species. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
Notify appropriate agencies of roadside locations for protection during roadside maintenance activities and provide information on appropriate protection measures. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs Medium
Provide map of known occurrences to Rural Fire Service and seek inclusion of mitigative measures on Bush Fire Risk Management Plan(s), risk register and/or operation map(s). Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
Determine if and/or where an ecological burn is required. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
Monitor sites, particularly in areas following fire and in areas subject to recreational activities. Styphelia perileuca Montane Green Five-corners Plant > Shrubs High
