Description

A spreading shrub to 1.5 m tall with bristly branches. Its leaves are broad with a spiky tip, 6 - 12 mm long and 3 - 5 mm wide, with fine teeth along the edges. The single hanging flowers are a clear yellow-green colour with fine red stripes and are 12 - 14 mm long.

Distribution

Known from a few populations near Cathedral Rock National Park and New England National Park, on the eastern edge of the New England Tablelands of NSW and a single population near Coolacurrippa, west of Comboyne on the mid-north coast.

Habitat and ecology

  • Occurs in dry forest on ridges and gentle slopes, on sandy shallow soils over granite and trachyte, and shrublands surrounding swamps.
  • Populations tend to be on broad ridges and gentle slopes at 1250–1500 m above sea level.
  • Flowering occurs in September
