Description

Amperea xiphoclada var. pedicellata an erect shrub up to 60 cm high with rigid, angular branches, which are sometimes leafless. The lower leaves are 5–10 mm long and often toothed. The upper leaves are usually less than 10 mm long and not toothed. The flowers are fewand sessile clusters surrounded by fringed bracts.

Distribution

Amperea xiphoclada var. pedicellata is known only from the type specimen collected in 1892 from Sydney, NSW. The species has not been observed since and is presumed to be extinct. 

Habitat and ecology

  • Amperea xiphoclada var. pedicellata was previously widespread in heath, woodland and forest in low-fertility, sandy soils.
