Description

Prostanthera sejuncta, is scrambling, prostrate shrub, to 0.5 metres high, often forming a dense mat. The branches are hairless or have sparse flattened hairs around the angular stems. The stems are grooved on opposite sides with the grooves alternating on successive nodes. Leaves are oval to elliptic 5-15 mm long, 2.5-7 mm wide with toothed or entire margins. Spines are 5-12 mm long. Flowers are pale mauve with orange-brown dots in the throat on the lower lip.

Distribution

P. sejuncta is distributed north of Grafton, where it is locally abundant in Fortis Creek National Park, Banyabba Nature Reserve the Fortis Creek Travelling stock reserve and freehold land at the Pinnacles. 

Habitat and ecology

  • It grows in woodlands and open forests areas dominated by Eucalyptus bancroftii, Lophostemon suaeveolens, Angophora subvelutina, Eucalyptus pilularis, with a mid-layer of Allocasuarina littoralis, Leptospermum Leptospermum brachyandrum, and Banksia oblongifolia. It less commonly occurs in Blackbutt Wet Sclerophyll Forests on sheltered slopes and also drier rocky woodlands.
  • Flowers present all year.
