Description

Shrub, 1 to 3 metres high, with densely hairy young stems. Leaves broadly oval in shape, 1 to 3.5 cm long, 8 to 20 mm wide, with a green upper surface that is velvety with short simple hairs. Lower leaf surface has longer hairs and prominent raised secondary and tertiary veins. Flowers are creamish, and borne in short dense panicles. Petals are usually absent (rarely 1-3 per flower).

Distribution

Recorded from a small number of sites along a single ridgeline near Denman in the upper Hunter Valley (Muswellbrook local government area).

Habitat and ecology

  • Occupies woodland in association with Eucalyptus crebra , E. blakelyi, Notelaea microcarpa and Allocasuarina littoralis.
  • Associated soil is a sandy loam on sandstone or conglomerate.
