Description

Scant Pomaderris is a medium-sized shrub 2 - 3m tall. The stems are whitish with tiny star-shaped hair clusters. The leaves are oval to narrow elliptical, 2.5 - 7 cm long and 10 - 25 mm wide. They are shiny on the top and woolly underneath. The small creamy yellow flowers appear during spring-summer.

Distribution

Widely scattered but not common in north-east NSW and in Queensland. It is known from several locations on the NSW north coast and a few locations on the New England Tablelands and North West Slopes, including near Torrington and Coolata.

Habitat and ecology

Found in moist eucalypt forest or sheltered woodlands with a shrubby understorey, and occasionally along creeks.

Clearing of habitat for agriculture.
Disturbance from timber harvesting activities.
Habitat loss as a result of mining activities.

Infrequent fire restricts the species germination from seed.

Protect known populations from disturbance from logging or roadworks.
Manage fire to maintain populations of Scant Pomaderris.
Control introduced weeds.
Exclude domestic stock from areas of known habitat.
Notify the OEH of any new occurrences of the species.
Support local Landcare groups raise the profile of the species and undertake onground management actions.
Monitor the population dynamics and threats of known populations.
Undertake surveys to identify unrecorded populations of Scant Pamaderris.
Maintain viable ex-situ seedbank and/or living collection.
Undertake research into the ecological requirements, including fire ecology, of the species.
