Description

Nalbaugh Nematolepis is a large densely foliaged shrub to 3m tall with characteristic thick warty leaves which are heart-shaped. The white five-petalled flowers with long stamens are a centimetre across and are in clusters of up to three in the leaf axils.

Distribution

This species is found only at a few sites on the Nalbaugh Plateau in the South-East Forests National Park south-east of Bombala.

Habitat and ecology

  • The Nalbaugh Nematolepis grows in shrubby habitat in rocky areas or forms part of the understorey in open forest.
