Description

A climber with twining stems to 4 m high. Young stems with hairs, older stems and most leaves without. Leaves are narrow, 2 - 12 cm long and 1 - 18 mm wide (6 - 15 times as long as broad). The midvein of the leaf is prominent. Bell-shaped flowers occur in groups of 3 - 10 and are 3 - 4 mm in diameter, greenish or yellow. Has a milky latex when cut and large underground tubers. Fruit are large and pear-shaped, up to 80 mm long.

Distribution

Recent records are from Prospect, Bankstown, Smithfield, Cabramatta Creek and St Marys. Previously known north from Razorback Range.

Habitat and ecology

  • Grows in vine thickets and open shale woodland.
