Description

Bordered Guinea Flower is a small shrub, growing to 0.5 m tall. The reddish branchlets, the buds and the young leaf-growth are covered in long white hairs. The leaves are narrowly oblong, slightly rolled back along the edges. They are paler below, with sparse silver hairs on both surfaces. The bright-yellow flowers appear in spring and are 2 – 3 cm across. The green sepals behind the flowers are densely hairy except for a broad smooth strip around the margin. The fruits consist of three joined capsules, that split at the top.

Distribution

Known from Gibberagee State Forest, Tabbimoble State Forest, Doubleduke State Forest, Kooyong State Conservarion Area, Mt Neville Nature Reserve and Mt Belmore State Forest. 

Habitat and ecology

  • Grassy or shrubby dry and wet open eucalypt forest at low altitudes on sandstone, sand and clay.
