Threatened species

Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Only show results for Priority....
There are 1 threatened species in New South Wales matching the above criteria which have current Priority action plans. A total of 15 current Priority actions have been identified to help recover these species.

Coordinate the implementation of recovery actions and where feasible integrate actions for other threatened species, populations or ecological communities occurring in similar habitats. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Medium
Coordinate the establishment of a Davidson's Plum working group to ensure effective implementation of recovery actions. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Medium
Collate and review results of all previous surveys, opportunistic records and monitoring programs in order to identify areas for future surveys. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees High
Coordinate systematic surveys for new sub-populations of the Davidsons Plum once priority survey sites have been identified. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees High
Conduct research into key aspects of the biology, ecology and genetics of the to enhance future management e.g. pollination ecology, gene-flow between and within stands of Davidsons Plum and natural recruitment at each sub-population. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Medium
Support indigenous consultation to determine importance of the species to Local Aboriginal Land Councils, Elders and groups representing indigenous people. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Medium
Notify landholders and land managers about the presence of records of the species on their lands to ensure they are aware of opportunities for long term voluntary conservation measures and incentive programs to conserve the species. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees High
Distribute survey and assessment guidelines to relevant councils and other landholders/managers to ensure potential impacts to species are assessed for potential developments. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees High
Support preparation of site management plans for each population of Davidsons Plum to address specific threats at each location. Plans too consider information on fire mgmt, erosion control and livestock control. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees High
Develop buffer zones widths to ensure prevention of movement of genetic material between naturally occurring sub populations of Davidsons Plum. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees High
Ensure sustainable collection of wild fruit and propagation material by continuing to implement the current licensing program for collection control. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Medium
Develop and implement an education and awareness strategy to provide information on the species and its threats. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Medium
Encourage maintenance of an ex situ collection of each genetically distinct sub populations as a contingency strategy against catastrophic stochastic events. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Medium
Collect and store representative genetic material from each sub population at an appropriate institution. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Medium
In the event of a sub-population becoming threatened with extinction, undertake investigation for translocation. Davidsonia jerseyana Davidson's Plum Plant > Trees Low
