Threatened species

Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Only show results for Priority....
There are 1 threatened species in New South Wales matching the above criteria which have current Priority action plans. A total of 12 current Priority actions have been identified to help recover these species.

Identify at least 3 sites for implementation of recovery actions and monitoring. In particular, the Tenterfield Creek population needs to be investigated and its status assessed. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Re-initiate liaison with all landholders to discuss issues, management actions, fencing, etc. In particular, need to approach new landholders to encourage conservation of the species. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Provide advice and assistance for the removal of weed species within Ooline habitat such as Tiger Pear. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Low
Liaise with landholders regarding the possible acquisition of Turkey Ridge for the conservation of the species. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Review / include operational guidelines for Mt Kaputar NP and Gamilaroi NR Reserve Fire Management Strategies to protect this species from fire. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Establish a comprehensive monitoring program to determine the success or otherwise of recovery actions and to guide future actions. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Control feral goats in areas of known and potential habitat. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Erect signage and fence off roadside remnants to protect from damage and disturbance from road works and traffic. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Attempt to enter into Vacs with landholders where the species occurs on private property e.g. Turkey Ridge. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Low
Fence off areas of habitat to protect from stock and feral animal grazing. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Improve knowledge and understanding of the species' ecology by conducting research into population dynamics, genetic variation and establishment & recruitment of new individuals, focusing on whether inbreeding is adversely affecting populations. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
Ensure the Threatened Species Hazard Reduction List is updated with the requirements of this species and that personnel undertaking burns are aware of its presence and fire sensitivity. Cadellia pentastylis Ooline Plant > Trees Medium
