Threatened species

Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Only show results for Priority....
There are 1 threatened species in New South Wales matching the above criteria which have current Priority action plans. A total of 13 current Priority actions have been identified to help recover these species.

Populations, habitat and threats at the known sites should be monitored. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs High
Include or review the hazard reduction conditions on the Threatened Species Hazard Reduction List. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Collect seed for NSW Seedbank. Develop collection program in collaboration with BGT - single provenance. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Investigate seed viability, germination, dormancy and longevity (in natural environment and in storage). Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Recreational use in the vicinity of known populations particularly at Mobong Falls site should be excluded or managed to ensure the populations are maintained. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs High
All known populations are in conservation reserves, maintenance of populations of Babingtonia silvestris should be a priority in planning. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs High
Determine current population size and demography. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs High
Conduct research to determine ecological requirements, including fire ecology, and undertake field studies to monitor seedling establishment and survivorship. May involve autecological study or literature search for information on similar species. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs High
Model the distribution of potential habitat to assist in planning of further survey for Babingtonia silvestris. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Map the known populations and potential habitat. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs High
Population at Mobong Falls not in profile map or Atlas database, add to the Atlas database. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs Low
Survey areas of suitable habitat in areas adjacent to known populations for further populations of Babingtonia silvestris. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs Low
Maintain populations ex situ at suitable botanic gardens, regional gardens or nurseries. Kardomia silvestris Woodland Babingtonia Plant > Shrubs Medium
