Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Map habitat and populations; estimate abundance and extent of populations. Hibbertia hexandra Tree Guinea Flower Plant > Shrubs Medium
Survey habitat for the species prior to road and track maintenance. Assess need to protect trackside plants. Hibbertia hexandra Tree Guinea Flower Plant > Shrubs High
Identify critical factors limiting the recovery of the species. Hibbertia hexandra Tree Guinea Flower Plant > Shrubs High
Research fire response (for the species and habitat). Hibbertia hexandra Tree Guinea Flower Plant > Shrubs High
Reserve Fire management Strategy include operational guidelines to protect this species from fire. Hibbertia hexandra Tree Guinea Flower Plant > Shrubs High
Protect areas of known habitat from timber harvesting and other land clearing. Avoid fragmenting habitat with roads or tracks. Hibbertia hexandra Tree Guinea Flower Plant > Shrubs High
Identify information and resource needs to ensure that land managers are aware of populations and habitat and that its recovery requirements are taken into account in PoMs, fire plans and pest management plans. Hibbertia hexandra Tree Guinea Flower Plant > Shrubs High
Encourage the community to participate in the detection of new locations, and encourage their participation in habitat rehabilitation projects in heath, open forest and rainforest areas. Hibbertia hexandra Tree Guinea Flower Plant > Shrubs Medium
