Threatened species

Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Only show results for Priority....
There are 1 threatened species in New South Wales matching the above criteria which have current Priority action plans. A total of 16 current Priority actions have been identified to help recover these species.

Conduct an assessment of population and habitat condition and threats to the species at all known sites. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Model potential habitat to identify sites for further survey. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Use molecular techniques to investigate genetic variation within and between populations. Identify critical factors limiting the recovery of the species. Research fire response (for the species and habitat). Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Confirm existing records, estimate abundance and extent of populations. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Establish a data recording system for the species. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Low
Map habitat and populations, ensure that Atlas records are accurate. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Survey before road and track maintenance in potential habitat of the species, assess need to protect trackside plants. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs High
Ensure the species is considered in statutory plans relevant to its distribution. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs High
Increase community awareness through encouraging and implementing habitat rehabilitation projects. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs High
Ensure that land managers and other stakeholders are aware of populations and habitat and they identify information and resource needs. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Regional fire plans, protected area fire plans and hazard reduction burn plans to include protection strategies for the species and its habitat. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs High
Reserve Fire management Strategy include operational guidelines to protect this species from fire. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs High
Protect areas of known habitat from timber harvesting and other land clearing, avoid bisecting habitat with roads or tracks. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs High
Assess weed threats to populations, manage as necessary. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Ensure that land managers are aware of populations and habitat and that PoMs, fire plans, pest management plans take account of requirements for the recovery of Baloghia marmorata. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs Medium
Collect baseline population data, using detailed census methods at priority sites and rapid assessment techniques at others. Baloghia marmorata Jointed Baloghia Plant > Shrubs High
