Threatened species

Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Only show results for Priority....
There are 1 threatened species in New South Wales matching the above criteria which have current Priority action plans. A total of 13 current Priority actions have been identified to help recover these species.

Map extent of known populations and conduct targeted surveys in areas of potential habitat nearby. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Known populations of Triplarina imbricata that occur on land controlled by local government should be considered during biodiversity certification of environmental planning instruments for Clarence Valley and Tenterfield LGAs. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs High
Provide map of known occurrences to Rural Fire Service and seek inclusion on Bush Fire Risk Management Plan(s), risk register and operation map(s). Include or review the hazard reduction conditions on the Threatened Species Hazard Reduction List. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs High
Collect seed for NSW Seedbank. Develop collection program in collaboration with BGT - all known provenances (conservation collection). Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Investigate seed viability, germination, dormancy and longevity (in natural environment and in storage). Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Monitor habitat condition, population size and threats at the known sites. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Conduct research to determine ecological requirements, including fire ecology, and undertake field studies to monitor seedling establishment and survivorship. May involve autecological study or literature search for information on similar species. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Control weeds, particularly Small-leaved Privet and Lantana, at known populations of T. imbricata. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Exclude domestic stock from known populations of T. imbricata. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Maintain populations of T. imbricata ex situ at suitable botanic gardens, regional gardens or nurseries. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Liaise with landowners and Landcare groups over management of populations of T. imbricata and encourage VCA or similar agreement to manage plants. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Medium
Expand and connect remnants of riparian habitat that support T. imbricata. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Low
Validate database records as some are spatially incorrect or old. Triplarina imbricata Creek Triplarina Plant > Shrubs Low
