Threatened species

Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Only show results for Priority....
There are 1 threatened species in New South Wales matching the above criteria which have current Priority action plans. A total of 10 current Priority actions have been identified to help recover these species.

Survey to locate new populations and extend the ranges of known populations. Surveys should be conducted along riverine floodplains and riparian forests along the Murray R, particularly in River Red Gum areas after good seasons and high rainfall periods. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs High
Collect seed for NSW Seedbank. Develop collection program in collaboration with BGT - multiple provenances. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs Medium
Investigate seed viability, germination, dormancy and longevity (in natural environment and in storage). Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs Medium
Identify and regularly monitor key populations across the range of the species to determine the success or otherwise of recovery actions and to guide future actions. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs High
Undertake field studies to monitor regeneration, including seed set, seedling establishment and survivorship. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs High
Conduct experimental studies into the effects of fire and grazing disturbance. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs High
Relocate the navy tower on "Morundah" to an alternative location to avoid disturbance from service traffic and fire management activities. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs High
Fence the population on "Morundah" to protect from grazing by feral and domestic animals. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs High
Establish a comprehensive monitoring program for the population on "Morundah" to determine the success or otherwise of recovery actions and to guide future actions. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs High
Exclude domestic stock, vehicles and timber extraction activities from areas containing populations as an interim protection measure prior to results of experimental studies. Brachyscome muelleroides Claypan Daisy Plant > Herbs and Forbs High
