Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Develop and implement a monitoring program for the species and its habitat at 6 key sites. Re-assess tagged populations for use in monitoring program. Cynanchum elegans White-flowered Wax Plant Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Undertake genetics and pollinator studies directed to improving management of the species. Cynanchum elegans White-flowered Wax Plant Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers High
Undertake habitat restoration and ecotone maintenance. Cynanchum elegans White-flowered Wax Plant Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Undertake weed control using DEC guidelines for bush regeneration activities. Implement Bitou bush control as described in the approved TAP. Cynanchum elegans White-flowered Wax Plant Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Bush Fire Risk Management Plans should consider fire management of ecotonal habitat where this species occurs. Cynanchum elegans White-flowered Wax Plant Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
EIA guidelines to be revised and updated to avoid unnecessary loss of populations. Cynanchum elegans White-flowered Wax Plant Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers High
Include this species in regional information packages on rainforest communities and management. Cynanchum elegans White-flowered Wax Plant Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Medium
Prepare a site management plan prior to on-ground works commencing. Ensure personnel can distinguish the species from the exotic Moth Plant (Araujia sericifera). Cynanchum elegans White-flowered Wax Plant Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
