Threatened species

Priority actions by type of threatened species

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared a Priorities Action Statement (PAS) to promote the recovery of threatened species and the abatement of key threatening processes in New South Wales.

The Priorities Action Statement identifies a number of broad strategies to help threatened plants and animals recover in New South Wales. Each of these strategies have more specific priority actions within them.

Select an item from the list below to see priority actions for all species of that type.

Type of species

What type of species or threatening process do the priority actions apply to?

Name of species

Name of species or threatening process that the priority actions apply to.

Only show results for Priority....
There are 1 threatened species in New South Wales matching the above criteria which have current Priority action plans. A total of 16 current Priority actions have been identified to help recover these species.

Maintain regular correspondence between the DEC and FNSW to ensure a coordinated response to plan implementation. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Encourage morphological investigation to improve identification of the species. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers High
Encourage research into flowering and seed production and response to disturbance (including fire). Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers High
Investigate seed viability, germination, dormancy and longevity (in natural environment and in storage). Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Medium
Distribute a species profile for the species to relevant land managers, consent authorities and conservation groups. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Medium
Collect seed for NSW Seedbank. Develop collection program in collaboration with BGT - single provenance. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Medium
Undertake protection of sites through appropriate means such as fencing or signage, and weed control where necessary. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Undertake weed control at priority sites. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Coordinate targeted surveys for unconfirmed populations of the species. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers High
Coordinate a census of all known populations to monitor population sizes, threats and response to disturbance. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers High
Develop standard survey and assessment guidelines and distribute to all relevant consent authorities. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Medium
Liaise with private landholders to convey significance of populations of the species occurring on or adjacent to their property and encourage onground works for species protection. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Mark all populations occurring on roadsides to prevent damage from roadside maintenance. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Integrate weed control works required on DEC estate into regional works programs as appropriate. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers High
Populations will be managed for the fire regime habitat in which they occur until the most appropriate fire regime for the forest twiner is known. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
Survey, management and research actions are to be carried out in a way that minimises the risk of the spread of disease from plant pathogens. Marsdenia longiloba Slender Marsdenia Plant > Epiphytes and Climbers Low
